Jeremy Yeung

Sent from Symphony Church

To Taipei, Taiwan

Originally from the country of Hong Kong, Jeremy Yeung came to Boston to study English Education and become an English teacher. He enjoys home cooking, singing with his a cappella group, and reading anything he can get his hands on. Though Jeremy accepted Jesus into his life in his freshman year, it wasn’t until last year that he committed himself to live as Christ every day with the Holy Spirit. While in Taiwan, Jeremy hopes to grow in deeper intimacy with God and discover how the Spirit will bring him into unity with the mission at Thrive.

Prayer Request

  • An open mind and humble heart as I settle in Taiwan and begin joining in God’s work in a new place
  • Good relationships and unity with the pastoral team at Thrive
  • That I would entrust my worries about language/cultural barriers to my all-knowing God

Ellie Huo

Sent from Kairos Church

To Tokyo, Japan

Ellie Huo is from So-Cal and studies computer science at UCSD. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with people, cooking and trying new things. She became a Christian during high school and before that, she always pondered on the meaning of life as life in general was so meaningless. Christ met her and showed her that the meaning of life is to “fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind” (Ecclesiastes 12:13b). As she kept His commandments, she experienced that obeying God is restoring how God originally designed life for us, to love and be with Him. And it commands in Matthew 28:19-20 to go and make disciples of all nations, so she is going.

Prayer Request

  • Everything I desire and do would be good in God’s eyes and according to His word
  • I would really surrender and lean on God for everything as I am a weak person that easily worries
  • My heart would be filled with the compassion and love that Jesus Christ has for us

Stephen Wang

Sent from Kairos Church

To Coban, Guatemala

Stephen Wang grew up in Southern California and graduated from UCSD with a degree in Computer Science. He enjoys reading books, playing video games, and going on runs. Stephen was raised in a Christian household and accepted Christ at a young age. However, it wasn’t until his second year of college that, by God’s grace, he began to see God as his greatest treasure, joy, and satisfaction. This joy and desire for God led him to participate in God’s work in Guatemala on AMI 1-year. Stephen is excited to serve the Lord, partake in His kingdom work, and see what God can do in him and through him during this year!

Prayer Request

  • To continually find his greatest joy and satisfaction in God so that God may be most glorified in his life
  • To be saturated in God’s word and grow in prayerful dependence on God
  • To have greater love and humility in serving the people around him

Diane Li

Sent from Kairos Christian Church

To Cisterna di Latina, Italy

Diane grew up in Orange County, California and was mostly raised in a Christian household. Through trials with friends and challenging conversations in high school, she learned to cling to the Word of God and know the Lord personally. She studied Economics at UC San Diego and loves being in nature, thrifting, and spending time with people. Diane is forever grateful for God’s saving mercy and desires to glorify Him & make Him know in all things, including 1-Year!

Prayer Request

  • I would allow God to search and refine me through biblical truth, personal reflection, everyday trials, interpersonal conversations
  • God would prepare people in Italy who are willing to have meaningful conversations
  • God would be glorified and made known rightly through every step of my 1YR

Yeri Kim

Sent from Church of Southland

To Tokyo, Japan

Yeri grew up in La Crescenta, CA and started attending Church of Southland in her freshman year at Biola University. She graduates in May 2023 with a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and hopes to work as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Audiologist in the future. She enjoys various creative hobbies like crocheting, music, drawing, etc., but over the years God has expanded her introvert heart to really love people and so when she can, one of her favorite activities is cooking and eating with people. In her serving as a cell leader and worship leader in her college ministry, just doing the mundane parts of life with people and seeing growth in her brothers and sisters has been the biggest blessing. And with so many blessings from God she’s seen, she just wants to bring other people to know Him and His love too, through this AMI 1YR.

Prayer Request

  • Remembrance: To not forget who my God is and what He’s done, when I struggle and doubt.
  • Love: To break my heart for what breaks His in Japan and to love His people with an overflowing agape love.
  • Joy: To be so close to Jesus and live a simple life of faithfulness there, full of His joy.

Harrisen Min

Sent from Church of Southland

To Coban, Guatemala

Harrisen is from Orange County, CA and went to UC Berkeley where he studied Public Health and Business. After graduation, he moved to Washington DC for work. During that time, God reignited in Harrisen a heart for missions and convicted him to surrender his next year to Christ. He likes to play basketball, snack on fruit, go outdoors, travel, watch movies, and be in the company of cherished friends.

Prayer Request

  • That the joy of the Lord would be my strength, even in the midst of fatigue and loneliness
  • I would grow in humility as God kills my pride and helps me to surrender control over my desires/fears
  • Boldness to take advantage of Gospel opportunities and intentionality to build relationships
